MURPHY -SOLD
2015 Gelding – Approximately 16 hh.
AQHA/APHA Out of Shugs Montana and by Raps Divine Leaguer (boasting an impressive record of Congress Top 3, Congress Top 10, AQHA World Qualifier, APHA World Finalist, multiple futurity champion, High Point Stallion 3 consecutive years. 7 Reserve Champion titles, 12 Grand Champion titles.)
Affectionately known as “Murphy” (being that he was born as soon as I was out of town-Murphy’s Law), this boy is a favorite amongst my children, lesson students, and everyone that he meets. He is quiet and takes everything in stride, with rarely more than a hesitation at new experiences or situations. Even prior to being truly “trained”, my less experienced children would hop on him bareback and ride him around the pasture in a halter. He is willing to try anything new and will happily go over and through new obstacles with hardly a hesitation. I have been riding him the past two months as my regular mount (before that he was really just our backup horse, only getting ridden a few times a year) and in those couple of months, he has been exposed to hundreds of new things out on the trail, through Park City subdivisions, and in the arena. My 11 year old daughter rode him Walk/Trot in the 2 handed class for 4H this year, being his second experience to the craziness of a show atmosphere and he took all the chaos in stride. Murphy is not “finished”, but will not take much more riding for you to finish him up how you’d like him. He will move his hip, pivot on his haunches, sidepass, walk/trot, cross water, bridges, and pony other horses. He is quiet around dogs, bikes, buses, motorcycles, kids, cars, scooters, and anything else you can think of on a city street. I have started riding him as my Mounted Posse horse for this year and he has done nothing but impress. Murphy loves to lead out the group and will definitely walk out once he gets in front, but he’ll happily ride in the middle of the pack or bring up the back of the group as well. We have not done a lot of arena work yet, and I will openly admit that’s where he is lacking experience, due to my desire to be out on the trails instead. Because of this, I am not listing that he knows his leads, despite the fact that the first several rides I originally put on him, he picked them up without any problems.
Murphy is an awesome horse and has the potential to be incredible in the right hands. I have more in my herd to work on and despite many friends trying to talk me out of it, I am letting Murphy go to a new home to be someone’s solid go-to horse.
I am asking $5500 and I promise he is worth every penny of it. This truly is a neat horse and he’ll happily be anything you want him to be.
